Dr. Katie Hamilton
Dr. Hamilton grew up in northeastern Indiana and knew from a young age she wanted to be veterinarian (or, as 2 year old Dr. H would say, a marine biologist, but turns out there’s not much in the way of marine life in the Midwest). She attended Indiana University and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Chemistry, Psychology and Animal Behavior. While there, Dr. Hamilton spent her time volunteering with PALS, a therapeutic riding facility that empowers people with mobility and cognitive disabilities through working with horses. She also spent her time volunteering with the Exotic Feline Rescue Center, which rescues large cats including tigers, lions, leopards, jaguars, cougars, and more.
After undergrad, Dr. Hamilton attended the University of Illinois for her DVM while working on research projects with native wildlife, rabbits, turtles and volunteered many hours in the wildlife clinic, which strengthened her resolution in providing top-notch exotic animal care. Dr. Hamilton also completed a small animal rotating internship with VCA Advanced Veterinary Care in Fishers, IN and then proceeded onto a specialty internship for Anesthesia and Analgesia at Texas A&M University. Dr. Hamilton then moved to upstate New York and worked in small animal critical care and emergency services. In 2020, Dr. Hamilton decided to move back closer to home and is proud to be back in the Midwest.
Dr. Hamilton’s special interests include pain management, anesthesia, preventative care, companion exotic pets, and hospice/senior care. Outside of work, you can find Dr. Hamilton enjoys a great comedy or horror movie with her husband and their “zoo” of animals, whipping up something in the kitchen (eggs Benedict are her specialty!) or cross stitching. Dr. Hamilton is grateful for the opportunity to get to know and treat your furry, feathered, scaled and all other members of your pet family and their specific needs!
